Non-linearity, or why blogging opens one door and closes another.

A central concept of blogging is in its reverse-chronological presentation — this is, I think, the essential feature.

It’s taken as such a given that it is rarely interrogated but it’s effect is huge, it is recency bias encoded into a practice.

Reverse chronology becomes a way of seeing, it is materially, transformatively distinct from chronology. Reading backwards and reading forwards are profoundly different.
