The sunburnt country
I spent almost two years in Australia, arriving in November of 2017 and departing in September of 2019. A third of that time, seven months of it, was devoted to cycling the circumference of that sunburnt country, that wide brown land.
Though I knew Australia was not a country I would wish to call home, I did fall deeply in love with its landscapes and for that it will be forever lodged in my heart.
- I love a sunburnt country,
- A land of sweeping plains,
- Of ragged mountain ranges,
- Of droughts and flooding rains.
- I love her far horizons,
- I love her jewel-sea,
- Her beauty and her terror —
- The wide brown land for me!
