I think exclamation point inflation is probably the signature of our communicative era – along with its cousin, emoji-blasting – and simply an attempt, I think, to push a sense of warmth through these cold screens. I appreciate the folks who hold the line, or try – when one exclamation mark becomes the new normal, two are needed for actual exclamation, and then it’s three, then three with a sequence of emojis… – but/and for my part, I mostly go with the modern flow!!
